CALLING ALL CARS @ THE UNIBAR @ THE WOLLONGONG UNIVERSITY

After spending the past year playing bridesmaid to iconic local rockers such as AC/DC, Cog, The Butterfly Effect, and Grinspoon, Melbourne’s own three piece excitement machine Calling All Cars will be donning their best suits and ties and heading out in fine style on their first national headline tour to officially launch their debut album Hold, Hold, Fire. Calling All Cars, and their handpicked support cast of Brisbane high energy rockers Numbers Radio and Perth upstarts Young Revelry, will hit every capital city in the country as well as a number of key regional centres that have supported Calling All Cars throughout their career, including the UniBar on Thursday 9th September. A new production from Opera Australia's Oz Opera. Oz Opera returns with a stunning new production of one of the world's favourite operas. When Paris’ most famous courtesan, Violetta Valery, meets country boy Alfredo Germont she is plunged into an eternal choice between freedom and love. Director Rachel McDonald vividly portrays Valery's struggle against the gilded cage of 1890s Paris and the constraints of money, society and mortality. This production is everything opera should be - extravagant, passionate, and intrinsically dramatic. Full of heart-melting duets, powerful arias and rousing choruses, this magnificent production will steal your heart. Tickets cost $59 for Adults. Performance begins at 8.00pm.

POWDERFINGER @ WIN ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE

Powderfinger, have announced details of their most extensive Australian tour to date together with the news that they will be disbanding following the tour. This will be Powderfinger's first major national tour since the hugely successful Across the Great Divide tour with Silverchair almost 3 years ago. The band's final announcement was that they would be disbanding following the completion of the Sunsets tour. In the prepared statement, the band advised that "the "Sunsets" tour will be Powderfinger's last ever run of shows. Joining Powderfinger for all but the first three shows on Sunsets will be old friends, JET.
