When Paris’ most famous courtesan, Violetta Valery, meets country boy Alfredo Germont she is plunged into an eternal choice between freedom and love. Director Rachel McDonald vividly portrays Valery's struggle against the gilded cage of 1890s Paris and the constraints of money, society and mortality. This production is everything opera should be - extravagant, passionate, and intrinsically dramatic.

Bangarra Dance Theatre delights with two brand new works. Following the extraordinary success of their 20th anniversary retrospective Fire in 2009, the world-renowned Bangarra Dance Theatre returns to Wollongong with a stunning new double bill by choreographers Frances Rings and Daniel Riley McKinley. Award-winning choreographer Frances Rings first made the move from dancer to creator with Walkabout in 2002 and rejoins Bangarra to craft half of this new work, inspired by the evolution and diversity of both traditional and contemporary visual art forms.
