DEAD LETTER CIRCUS @ THE UNIBAR @ THE UNIVERSITY OF WOLLONGONG
Wollongong UniBar is very excited to announce that Dead Letter Circus will be rocking the bar on Saturday 4th September. DEAD LETTER CIRCUS (DLC), are unlike any rock band to emerge from Australia. In a whirlwind two years, DLC have ascended to the forefront of alternative rock. Their much anticipated debut album ‘This Is The Warning’ hit number two on the national ARIA charts and their national album launch tour sold out everywhere. But be aware, Dead Letter Circus is the rarest of flavours, brilliant but ultimately indescribable. August/September this year will see DLC back on the road for a huge national tour, hitting the highway to reach many regional areas along with some massive capital city shows. COOKERY SCHOOL @ Caveau
Peter Sheppard's Cookery School is a hands-on, fun afternoon of learning, making and eating! It runs between 11am and 2pm, where you will cook and eat 3 fabulous dishes. Cookery schools are run with 12 persons, with dates and menus planned to suit interested parties. Cost: $85pp including GST, includes coffee at the start and the recipes to take home. Director Rachel McDonald vividly portrays Valery's struggle against the gilded cage of 1890s Paris and the constraints of money, society and mortality. This production is everything opera should be - extravagant, passionate, and intrinsically dramatic. Powderfinger, have announced details of their most extensive Australian tour to date together with the news that they will be disbanding following the tour. This will be Powderfinger's first major national tour since the hugely successful Across the Great Divide tour with Silverchair almost 3 years ago. The band's final announcement was that they would be disbanding following the completion of the Sunsets tour. In the prepared statement, the band advised that "the "Sunsets" tour will be Powderfinger's last ever run of shows. Joining Powderfinger for all but the first three shows on Sunsets will be old friends, JET. MUNDINE V WATERS - WBA WORLD TITLE ELIMINATIOR @ WIN ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
Anthony 'The Man' Mundine has answered the challenge from fellow junior light-middleweight Boxer Ryan Waters - the two will take to the ring, Wednesday 15th September at WIN Entertainment Centre for the WBA World Title Eliminator. Waters, with top ten rankings in the WBA and WBO, crashed the ring immediately after Mundine's fight with Argentinian Carlos Aden Jerez at Brisbane Entertainment Centre to call him out for the title fight. Bangarra - Of Earth and Sky @ THE IMB THEATRE
Bangarra Dance Theatre delights with two brand new works. Following the extraordinary success of their 20th anniversary retrospective Fire in 2009, the world-renowned Bangarra Dance Theatre returns to Wollongong with a stunning new double bill by choreographers Frances Rings and Daniel Riley McKinley. Award-winning choreographer Frances Rings first made the move from dancer to creator with Walkabout in 2002 and rejoins Bangarra to craft half of this new work, inspired by the evolution and diversity of both traditional and contemporary visual art forms. The highly talented Daniel Riley McKinley makes his choreographic debut with the other half of the double bill. Bangarra’s work, both deeply moving and visually stunning, is respected throughout the world for its theatricality and depth of spiritual meaning. This double bill takes the Bangarra experience to a new level and is a not-to-be-missed theatrical experience. Tickets cost $54 for Adults. Performance begins at 8.00pm.
